In the initial week of our project we drew up a rough guide to the scheduling that needed to be carried out.
The order of events would have needed to be- regardless of the idea, something like the following.
week 1: Plan and film all footage. Create/form and finalize the concept design for creature.
week 2: Using a proxy mesh- start developing the rig which will be used for animating. Based on the ideas that we have for the footage, we can think of the extreme poses that the rig may have to achieve and build accordingly.
week 3/4: Continue modifying rig with more updated versions of the model and finalize testing/painting weights/control curves and blendshapes.
week 5- give rig to the animators and assist in any troubleshooting/problems with the rig.
week 6- begin research into visual fx shots.
week 7 onwards- continue with visual fx and finish shots in working along side tracking (Greg) and Director (Ollie), whilst still assisting with any rigging issues.
Following this regime would provide a very well planned set of events that even allow breathing space in case of any delays. There are a number of details that this project entails which I have not mentioned since I may not be directly involve me but are central. This includes tracking, animation tests, modeling/texturing as well as compositing. However part of the benefit of this project is the prospect of specializing in a particular subject. At the same time, we would need to coherently work together to contribute to the final piece.
